I really enjoyed this comic, an excellent introduction to a broader super-hero universe for this reader. Both writing and art hit the right spots for, presenting a classic action adventure tale, or at least a chapter in a larger story. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this new take on a golden age public domain hero. The story draws you in with a mystery right up front as well as a ending that reminds me of old serials at the movies. The art is really good and the book overall flows very well. This is a no-brainer as a free download. You can’t go wrong with John Aman, Amazing Man!!!!

So here is my review for Amazing Man #1, published by Gallant Comics. First, off, I have to say Steven Butler is a horribly underrated artist. I absolutely love his work. Check out his art on Facebook when you get a chance!
Barry Gregory is a decent writer and the story held my interest. I especially freaked out when Sylvia Manners aka The Black Angel showed up and Dr. Emmelman mentions The Heap. I’m a fan of both these characters and I really want to get the other issues of Amazing Man to see what happens next.

For some reason, the copy I received seems to be a variant cover of Amazing Man #1, but it looks great and that’s cool with me! Also, excellent printing and paper quality from KaBlam.

I really am liking what Mr. Gregory and Mr. Butler are doing with these public domain comic book characters. A good story accompanied by really amazing artwork will give you a damn good comic book. I highly recommend this book!

This was a pretty interesting read and served as a game-board, of-sorts, to set up for John Aman’s conflict where he will cross paths with Horace Googer, now referring to himself as Cadmus, the crazed-botanical Spartoi Leader. This was made evident by Horace himself after cutting loose ends with Dr. Emmelman in the Compost Hill mentioning his usefulness to drawing in John Aman’s friend Zoey Henderson. There was some origins story going on at the beginning of the book started with an unnamed character who used an advanced gadget to create a barrier similar to Amazing Man’s powers. At the end of the issue, we were introduced to ‘The Hooded Horseman’ and I felt a strong connection between him and the character from the beginning of the story. I really liked the character ‘Longbow’ and would really love to know more about him. I have a real interest in other characters like him from other IP’s like Tomahawk from Killer Instinct and Nightwolf from Mortal Kombat. I also liked Sylvia Manners and really want to know what makes her the Black Angel. She gave me a really big Black Widow vibe. I’m also interested to know why the X-bureau would bother with a simple abduction. I feel as though that is a conflict unfolding for issue later even it’s own mini-series. The biggest question for me after reading this issue besides, what is Cadmus going to do with his army of Spartoi?, is what is the Hooded Horseman’s real name and what meaning does it carry if he were to remember it?

This issue contains four short episodes showing off a variety of interesting characters and situations. A really appetising set of hors d’oeuvres.
